Dexcom seven plus

Categories: general

Hi there! I hope that your had a very good 2009. I started the year with my new Dexcom. The dexcom is a constant Glucose monitor that you change every week. The dexcom has been a huge help for me, it checks my blood every 5 minutes! I love it so much, we had a rough start which was extremely rare. Anyways I highly recommend this product. It is tubeless and it is so small no has noticed unless I point it out! With the dexcom you only need to manually check your blood 2 times a day, to make sure that you have an accurate blood sugar.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Categories: general

Hi there! It’s me again, Merry Christmas to all. I know that the holiday season can be hard for diabetics because everyone knows that it is time to make festive cookies and trade them, which means it’s hard to get a good carb count. Especially for kids you don’t have a normal school schedule to stay on during Christmas break.

An easy Thing to do if you go to a Christmas party is bring your own and maybe a little something special to have if you don’t want to guess carbs. This will be my first Christmas with diabetes and I am little nervous about it, no more unlimited eating. Well I also can’t believe that it is almost another new year. It seems like just 12 months ago we had new years eve.

That was the day that I was diagnosed! WOW time flies. I can’t believe that it has almost been a year. SEEMS CRAZY TO ME!! Anyways I hope that you enjoy your Christmas and New Years! Merry Christmas and a happy new year from us diabetes diary!

My insulin pump

MY DUMMY PUMP

omni pod

I went to Helen Devos Childrens Hospital on Thursday, March 12 .  I went there because I wanted an insulin pump and there was a pump class there. I got a pump that a famous member of a band has, Nick Jonas. It is completely tubeless so nothing would be bothering you. We know 1 other person that is already on the same pump and he LOVES it. It is so cool. There was no other choice to me. I had to get a tubeless pump. You are probably wondering what it is called. It is called the OMNIPOD. I hated it in the car because it was bothering me. In about 2 hours i loved it. There is no benefit from it know because it is a Dummy Pump. I would totally recommend this Pump to anyone. It is great because……. there is no tubing , there is a little needle that sticks in you that even I can  not feel, and if you and want to for example if you were on the car and your mom decided that you can get ice cream on the way back, you can just press a few buttons and you can eat it then and there You won’t have to wait untill you get home when it is all soupy or strugle with getting shots in the car. That sound alot like freedom.  The best part, that I was really exited about was that the omnipod does not just sit there a plain white! you can draw on it too! my first drawing on it was by mom because it was on my arm. We did a vollety ball and wrote ” moms vs. daughters” because we were doing a volley ball match at school between moms vs. daughters. (daughters kicked butt) I hope that you enjoy my website.

Life with type 1 diabetes

Categories: general

I was Diagnosed with type1 diabetes on new years eve 2008. When I was found out that I had diabetes i was very scard because I did not know what it was going effect my life. I stayed at the doctor’s for a long time. The doctor said that I needed to go to HELEN DEVOS CHILDRENS HOSPITAL right then. I waited while my mom called to ask where it was. I cried a lot. I went to Helen devos and then they explained everything to me and then gave me a shot. I was terrified of shots and this was not going to make me happy. I stayed at the Helen devos children hospital for about 5 hours. after that we went home I did not want to go to the  new year eve party because i was to sad. I had to go though and it was not as bad. Thank you for reading my story and I hope you enjoyed it.
